Red Velvet Cookies Recipe

A cookie version of the classic Southern cake.

Ingredients
  • 1/2
    cups
    butter
  • 3/4
    cups
    light brown sugar
  • 1
    tbsp
    cocoa powder
  • 1
    egg
  • 1/2
    tsp
    salt
  • 1/2
    tsp
    red food color
  • 1/2
    tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2
    cups
    wheat flour
  • 1/2
    tsp
    baking soda
  • 1
    tbsp
    powdered sugar
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Cream the butter, sugar, cocoa, egg and salt.
  3. Mix in the food color and vanilla extract.
  4. Mix the flour and baking soda and mix into the wet mixture.
  5. Scoop tablespoon sized balls of dough onto a pan.
  6. Bake in the oven for 11-13 minutes.
  7. Dust with powdered sugar.
